Unhealthy Attachments

Unhealthy Attachments

Attachment issues affect many families in the United States. False needs are relieved through short-term fixes. Emotional pain is involved, and family members can get angry, sad, and frustrated. GCCS works with individuals to determine their reasons for using these coping mechanisms, and how it affects them and their families and works to give them new skills and community resources to overcome unhealthy attachments. We help families understand their true needs and ways to build healthy attachments.

Pornography Use and Sexual Issues

Pornography usage and other sexual issues are becoming more prominent in our society. The usage of pornography is damaging to our ability to be intimate (emotionally close) to others and can destroy relationships with spouses. It creates an unsafe home environment, emotional pain, and disconnectedness. Sometimes, people who use pornography can progress to other sexual compulsions (affairs, use of prostitutes, etc.). These behaviors are very damaging to individuals and their families. GCCS works to help families understand how their unhealthy attachment began, and how it progressed, and help them develop healthier coping skills and set boundaries to help them overcome the sexual issue. We work with spouses to help them understand their unhealthy attachments, how to help their spouse, set boundaries, and work on their own emotions resulting from their spouse’s behaviors.
